Flashcard

Flashcard is a spaced-repetition study tool built for people learning a new language who are tired of flipping through the same pile of vocabulary cards in the same order, at the wrong time, over and over.

The problem it solves

Most flashcard apps show you cards on a fixed schedule or in a fixed order. That wastes time on words you already know cold, and doesn’t review the ones you’re about to forget. Spaced repetition fixes this by tracking how well you know each card and adjusting the interval before it shows up again — cards you struggle with come back sooner, cards you’ve mastered come back much later.

How it works

You build or import a deck of cards — a term on one side, its meaning (and any notes) on the other. As you review, Flashcard tracks your recall for each card and schedules its next appearance accordingly. Over time the deck naturally shifts toward the cards that actually need your attention.

Decks are organized by topic, so you can keep a grammar deck, a vocabulary deck, and a subject-specific deck (travel phrases, technical terms, whatever you’re studying) separate but reviewed in the same session.

Anyone learning a new language who wants a lightweight, no-signup-friction way to build and retain vocabulary — from someone cramming for a trip to someone doing daily study for fluency.
